Fact-based Replant Decisions

Updated May 19, 2021

The 2021 planting season has provided both ideal and challenging environmental conditions, depending on your location. In some of these challenging environments, farmers may experience decreased final emergence scores in corn and soybeans. In these instances, replanting may be considered.  Any replant decision for corn and soybeans needs to be rooted in a sound belief that the replant will yield as well as, or better than, if the crop had not been replanted. Detaching emotions and using facts helps with these decisions.

Attached here are two summaries of how to make a fact-based decision on replant:

Tech 443 – Soybean Replant Decisions

Also included are two interactive worksheets to help you with your replant decision. These replant calculators follow the guidelines explained in the Tech Bulletins above to help you make a data-driven decision.

Note: “Table 1” referred to in the Corn Replant Calculator is the Planting Date/Population table.

In addition to the articles attached, using some of the tools available in Advantage Acre®, especially the weather forecasting information, can help you when making replant decisions.
