This year, we’re doubling down on in-field evaluation and launching the commercial field trial program – a nearly 8x expansion of the already-robust pre-commercial research network and another way to give you the data you need to make informed decisions for how you grow.

Matt Teply, an LG Seeds agronomist in the western corn belt sampled the commercial field trial system and witnessed the benefit it can bring to farmers.

“The greatest benefit in our area was when we noticed hybrids we wouldn’t usually plant in dryland environments, showing impressive yield on dryland or stressed acres. It’s made us better at placing the right product on the right acre because commercial field trials let us see our products in all kinds of different conditions.”

Expanded testing in your neighborhood

Commercial field trials are similar to the on-farm plots you’re used to seeing from your local LG Seeds rep, with some behind-the-scenes tweaks to maximize the impact of the plots. Where traditional on-farm plots included products chosen by the farmer and their local LG Seeds rep, commercial farm trials include a pre-determined group of hybrids planted in a specific order, replicated across more than 1,500 locations. The new commercial field trial system will still test products you’re familiar with, but it will also give you the chance to identify new products and agronomic characteristics that stand out by pushing products from other geographies and maturity zones outside their limits.
