Seed Treatments in Grain Sorghum
Rain makes grain, and the no till farming practices of today enable farmers to make the most efficient use of that moisture - but not without challenges. Organisms like fungi and bacteria thrive in the heavy residue and cool moist conditions created from no-till practices.
Protecting the seed and early seedling growth from soil-borne fungi is critical anytime grain sorghum is planted into cold, wet soils. Many disease issues are caused by early infection of the seedlings, but may not rear their ugly head until later in crop development. Seed treatments containing one, or multiple, fungicides promote early season health - because it's easier to start healthy and maintain than try to make up ground later in the season.
White grubs, wireworm, seed corn maggots and chinch bugs are insects most commonly seen in grain sorghum early in the season. Not only can feeding by the larvae kill seedlings, but it also allows access points for soil-borne pathogens to enter the plant. Prevent pest feeding and damage with seed treatments.
Golden Acres® Genetics grain sorghum from LG Seeds has multiple seed treatment options to tackle many of the early growth stage issues you might encounter. For every seed you put in the ground, add the protection it needs. Our sorghum seed treatment choices protect your valuable investment by helping crops fulfill their genetic potential in the field. Soilborne diseases, damaging insects, harmful nematodes, nutritional deficiencies — keep them at bay with seed treatments to maximize yields.
